The Tournament began at 6 am on May 17th at Shirley Creek Marina. The contestants did do have to check in the morning of the tournament and could trailer but couldn't start fishing till 6 am. All contestants had to be at the weigh in by 3:00pm. There were 132 teams signed up to fish today. There was approximately $10,500 raised from tournament fees. A portion of that went to the winners as prize money and the rest to the Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center in Lufkin, Texas.
The day started off on the cool side as a front had just pushed thru the day before with winds from the north around 15 mph. Pre-fishing was on the tough side with the wind kicking up the water. The upper ends of the creeks and rivers were on the muddy side because of the rainfall that we had when the front pushed thru. The wind was clam all day, making for a great time to be on the lake. With the passing of the front how would the fish act? Would there be a topwater bite or would everyone have to go deep and try for the fish that the front wouldn't affect as much? It was around 2:30 when the anglers start coming in with their bags of fish. There were a lot of fish bought in and some good size ones at that. It was hard to get pictures as the fish were weighed in and quickly released to help keep them in good shape to fight another day. There were a lot of Prizes donated by local businesses along with a boat by Bass Pro Shop.
 | | Jeremy Belschner caught the biggest single bass of the tournament weighing 7.5 pounds |

William Muncrief and his 7 year old son Hunter Muncrief hit pay dirt with their two big fish. They didn't say much about how they had been fishing but did say they hooked them in the corner of the mouth.
Jeremy Belschner and his father got the big bass of the day. Dad did a great job netting the fish his son worked hard to catch.
