Anglers Quest 2008 Super Team Series # 5 blasted off after the playing of the National Anthem at 5:55 a.m.0 on Sam Rayburn with 70 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash payout at the ramp of $6,765.00.
This Series will provide a NO ENTRY FEE guaranteed $5,000 to the winner Championship event in September for the top 25 qualified teams. The top 5 and the Championship winning team from this Series will advance to the "Tournament of Champions" which will be held on Choke Canyon Reservoir on November 7-8-9, 2008 and will have a maximum of 38 teams from all Anglers Quest series go to a very exciting GUARANTEED $15,000.00 to the winner event. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for.
It was a cloudy day to start, with the air temp at takeoff being 75 degrees warming to 93 degrees by weigh in time. The water was at approximately normal pool level with water temps running 73-76 degrees in the main lake. The fishing was good on Big Sam, 24 limits were brought to the scales for a total of 140 bass at 364.97 lbs making the average per bass weight 2.60 lb.

The team of Pete Elliot from Vidor & Danny Cherry from Kountze, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to 147 bridge area. They put a limit in the boat using crank baits by 7 a.m. They enjoyed a strong Carolina rig bite the rest of the day. Pete & Danny used their sponsors Castaway rods & Shimano reels to bring in the winning sack at 21.14 lbs. They reported catching all of the Carolina rig fish in 25' deep water. Pete & Danny also wanted to thank their other sponsors, Texas Marine, Ranger Boats and Yamaha. Their success today allowed them to finish in 1st place and collect the A/Q "Goal Posts" and $2,900.00.
Chris McCall from Jasper & Pete Shivers from Kirbyville, Tx run Chris's Ranger/Evinrude Coppertone wrapped sponsored bass rig to south main lake grass beds to work American Rodsmiths rods & Abu Garcia reels to catch their 5 bass limit. They were slow rolling ¾ oz Santone spinner baits in 5'-25' ft deep grass edges and ended up with 20.31 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collect $1,300.00. Chris & Pete also had the 1st Big Bass of the event, a fine 7.05 lber that made them an additional $170.00 giving them a $1,470.00 payday for their day on the water. They also wanted to thank some other sponsors, Berkley & Gambler baits for their success.

Larry Ford from Kirbyville & Robert Seals from Porter, Tx took their Ranger/Mercury to areas on Big Sam not announced to bring in their limit of 5 bass. They tipped the scales at 19.66 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $700 for their day on the water.
Greg Crawford from Huffman, Tx & Tim Patterson from Kingwood, Tx went in Greg's Champion/ Mercury bass rig to Ayish Bayou areas. They worked their American Rodsmiths rods to catch their limit of 5 bass flippin jigs & craw worms around grass and buck brush, ending up with 18.85 lbs to finish in 4th place and collect $500.00.
Robert Davis & Alan Moore from Lufkin, Tx ran Alan's Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid lake creek edges to cull to their limit of 5 bass. Casting crank baits, top waters and Texas rigged worms on American Rodsmiths & Falcon Rods & Shimano reels in 3'-12' grass edges, they ended up with 17.07 lbs to finish in 5th place and collect $300.00. The team wanted to thank TriLakes Tackle for their help.

David Ozio from Beaumont & Kevin Wing from Lumberton, Tx fished from David's Skeeter/Yamaha to gather up 5 bass that tipped the scales at 15.87 lbs to finish in 6th place and collect $225.00.
Last place in the money today was the 7th place brothers team of Mike Dorcz from Humble & Eddie Harrison from Huffman, Tx took their Bullett/Mercury to unknown areas to end up with 15.04 lbs to collect $200.00 for their day on the water.
