Anglers Quest 2008 Sam Rayburn Saturday Series # 4 out of Mill Creek Park in Brookeland, TX began this event with 60 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3130.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 6:40 am. Weigh in was conducted in 2 flights at 3:15 & 3:30 pm. This Rayburn Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2009 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship in October on Sam Rayburn. A special Top 5 group of teams will qualify to go to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held in November on Choke Canyon Reservoir and will pay the winning team $15,000.00. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $125.00 per team. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and about 1 ft below normal pool level with water temps running 62-65 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a windy 49 degrees with a warming to 58 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was not real good on Big Sam today as there were only 15 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 105 bass at 270.94 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.58 lb.

The team of Stanton Marsh from Livingston and Alan Moore from Lufkin, Tx run Stanton's Ranger/Yamaha to mid lake areas to probe 6-8 ft depths around the grass edges with c-rigged plastics and brought 5 very nice bass to the scales that weighed 23.78 lbs to capture 1st place and collect $1150.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Matt Purghan from Orange and Ross Smith from Bridge City, Tx brought to the scales 5 very nice bass that weighed 20.40 lbs to capture 2nd place. They had the Big Bass of the event in their sack, a fine 8.61 lber which allowed them to collect $690.00 for their day on the water. Chris Clemens from Lufkin & Dallas Cole from Anacoco, La run Chris's Champion/Yamaha bass rig to mid main lake ledges with grass to fish spinner baits in 6-8 ft water to finish in 3rd place with 19.77 lbs. They took home $615.00 for their day on the water.

20.40 lbs Ross Smith & Matt Purghan win 2nd place
Shawn Hodges from Friendswood & Michael Needham from LaPorte, Tx run Shawn's Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to north lake areas with grass clumps in 5-8 ft water throwing c-rigs and brought in 5 bass at 17.47 lbs to garner 4th place. Their efforts paid back $280.00 for the day.

Don Mattern from Grapeland & Phillip Mattern from Willis, Tx collected the 5th place check of $180 with 5 bass that tipped the scales at 15.26 lbs. The 6th place check of $150.00 was gathered up by Lynn Shivers & Mark Palmore from Kirbyville, Tx with 5 bass at 14.96 lbs caught throwing c-rigs and spinner baits in the grass.

Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston on Saturday, April 12 for the 5th of 9 Lake Livingston Saturday Series events. On April 19 Anglers Quest will be at Alpine Marina on Toledo Bend for the 4th of 9 Toledo Bend Saturday Series events.
