Anglers Quest Super Team #3
Mill Creek Park March 30, 2008 Anglers Quest 2008 Super Team Series # 3 blasted off after the playing of the national anthem at 6:55 am on Sam Rayburn with 78 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash payout at the ramp of $7380.00. This Series will provide a NO ENTRY FEE guaranteed $5000 to the winner Championship event in September for the top 25 qualifiers. The top 5 and the Championship winning team from this Series will advance to the "Tournament of Champions" which will be held on Choke Canyon Reservoir on November 7-8-9, 2008 and will have a maximum of 38 teams from all Anglers Quest series go to a very exciting GUARANTEED $15,000.00 to the winner event. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for. It was a cloudy drizzly day for a tournament with the air temp at takeoff being 63 degrees with a warming to 81 degrees and sunshine at weigh in time. The water was at approximately 1 ft below normal pool level with water temps running 61-63 degrees in the main lake. The fishing was good on Big Sam today as 31 limits were brought to the scales for a total of 177 bass at 522.77 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.95 lb.
Jimmy Smith & Alan Bond from Vidor, Tx run Alan's Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to unknown lake areas to catch their limit of 5 bass casting and reeling to end up with 22.38 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collect $1400.00. Clay West from Lumberton & Clint West from Orange, Tx run their Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to south lake creek edges to cull to their limit of 5 bass casting rattle traps and football head jigs to 4-6 ft grass edges and ended up with 21.62 lbs to finish in 3rd place and collect $750.00. They reported catching a good limit really early and then just a couple more good bites later in the day. The West brothers wanted to Thank Dawson Marine & West Contracting Co.
Last place in the money today was the 7th place team of Ricky Guy & Tommy Bankhead with 18.03 lbs to collect $350.00. Anglers Quest Tuesday series on Lake Houston begins on April 1, 6:00pm-9:15pm and will be taking entries and weighing in at "The Big A" ramp on the Atascocita side of the lake. The boat launch there is not for public use, so if you don't have a key to the Big A ramp, you will need to launch at any ramp and come by water to sign up. Anglers Quest Wednesday series on Lake Conroe begins on April 2, 6:00-9:15pm. We will be taking entries and launching from Marina's Gas & Fishing store (the old North Shore Marina) in Lewis Creek on Hwy 1097. The launch there is in good shape and only $5 to launch.
