Anglers Quest 2008 Toledo Saturday Series # 2 out of Alpine Marina in Hemphill, TX began this event with 40 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $2050.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 6:40 am. The anglers were allowed to trailer to their desired ramp on the Bend as the wind was whistling 15-25 in the am with heavy rain showers and it was predicted to get worse throughout the day. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. The Toledo Bend Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2009 Toledo Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship in October on Toledo Bend. A special Top 5 group of teams will qualify to go to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held in November on Choke Canyon Reservoir and will pay the winning team a GUARANTEED $15,000.00. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $125.00 per team. Toledo Bend water was in good shape and about 3 ft below normal pool level with water temps running 50-54 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a very windy & rainy 57 degrees with a warming to 66 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very very good on the Bend today as there were 18 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 98 bass at 285.23 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.91 lb.

Ralph Logan & John Iles took 2nd place with 23.70 lbs, which inludes their 6.10 kicker

The team of Shannon Carroll from Burkeville, TX & Jerry Brittain from Leesville, La run their Bumble Bee/Johnson bass rig to the north end to catch their keeper bass throwing rattle traps, crank baits & C-rigged plastics in 6-10 ft of water around hydrilla & stumps. Shannon & Jerry culled down to their best 5 bass at 26.56 lbs to finish in 1st place. They also had the Big Bass of the event in their sack a fine 7.22 lber to allow them to collect $1050.00 for their day on the water.

Dusty Anders & Doyle Lasyone weighed in 23.05 lbs for 3rd place and had a nice 7.09 lb kicker.

The team of Ralph Logan from Magnolia, TX & John Iles from Hemphill, TX run their Ranger/ Mercury bass rig to main lake areas with humps & ridges in 17'-20' water to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 23.70 lbs. They used Carolina rigged plastics to catch their very nice sack of bass. Their day on the water paid back $400.00 for their efforts.

The team of Dusty Anders from Pineville, La & Doyle Lasyone from Ball, LA run their bass rig to main lake areas to finish in 3rd place with a very nice total of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 23.05 lbs and took home $300.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Ned Goodeaux from Many, La & Dale Logan from Iowa, LA run Dale's Champion/Mercury bass rig to the Louisiana side on the north end to catch their keeper bass throwing rattle traps in 6-8 ft of water around hydrilla & stumps. Ned & Dale culled down to their best 5 bass at 18.54 lbs to finish in 4th place and collect $200.00 for their day on the water.

Jerry Brittain brought in the Biggest Bass of the day at 7.22 lbs.

Anglers Quest will be back at Alpine Marina on Toledo Bend on Saturday, March 15th for the 3rd of 9 Toledo Saturday Series events. On Sunday February 24th Anglers Quest will be at Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn for the 2nd of 7 Super Team Series events.
